Pastels

I have been interested in creating art from a toddler onwards
(even have some preserved portraits I drew at age 3). My mother
got huge sheets of paper from the local butcher and I created
murals. No art classes other than the usual in elementary and
high school. Competitive swimming and then science became
other time consuming interests but I always made some creative
art. After marrying and moving around the world (e.g., ten years
at Cambridge University England for my doctorate degree in
experimental psycho-pharmacology, and clinical psychology
certification working with children with multiple severe disabilities),
I returned to the US and worked as a neuropsychologist
(specializing in traumatic brain injuries) in Philadelphia and later in
Vermont. I retired and moved to Reno in 2010. Finally free to
pursue art, I took various NV Museum of Art courses
simultaneously (pastels, oil painting, watercolor, etc.). I continue to
take courses from local artists. I feel most comfortable creating
large palette knife oil landscapes, and miniature pastels. The
Latimer Art Club has given me a home, friendships, and the
opportunity to show my creations.
