I spent many happy hours in childhood working on various art and craft projects. My Mother, Aunt and Grandmother were all artists.

In high school I was focused on academics, but loved sewing and designing clothes. I decided to try an art class. It was the only C grade I ever got, and thought I must not be a good artist.

In college I majored in Art History. In the last quarter of my senior year, I took a sculpture class and discovered clay. Working in 3 dimensions opened up a whole new world. After graduation I found a pottery studio, took classes in wheel throwing and felt that I’d discovered my life’s work. I supported myself as a potter in my 20’s and 30’s making functional ware and some sculpture.

Later, while traveling in the Northwest, I met my husband. We lived on 20 acres in eastern Washington and built a 3 story log house, using trees from our property. That became my art project for 12 years. I was still doing pottery too, and joined with a group of potters to open a gallery in a small town nearby.

I eventually got divorced, moved to Seattle, and established a career in nutrition. During those decades I became obsessed with gardening and my yard was my art project.  I was still working with clay and doing some ceramic sculpture. As my retirement approached I started taking some painting classes. I love the brilliant saturated color and textural possibilities that acrylics offer, and have always been drawn to abstract work.

I moved to Reno in 2018 to be near my grandchildren.

I’ve taken various classes locally and online over the last few years and am now to the point of feeling that my style is emerging.
