Acrylic

I am Michelle Womack and my love of creating art is woven throughout my life. The act of giving and sharing means handmade, painted, sketched, created, not purchased. After receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, I worked as a technical illustrator. I taught art in Elementary school and volunteered with various projects in the community and church. Our family kitchen was well stocked with an art cupboard, readily used by our 4 children who gained the love of creativity in art and music. Family activities centered around making things, there is no fear of creativity in our home. Some of my favorite artists are John Singer Sargent and Mary Cassett, these two I studied in some Art History classes. When I taught in Elementary school, it was so fun to be able to share about famous artists in history, and then follow up with an art lesson for the students. This teaching opportunity was so much fun. This phase of my life has allowed me to discover my voice in art, to experiment, to take ideas from the beginning sketches to finished paintings, all framed and ready for new homes. Acrylic is such freedom, to be able to layer to make the changes you want and still be moving forward with the painting. After 45 years since I first started officially studying art, I never tire of the colors, the application, appreciating other artists and styles, and of course buying art supplies. I consider myself a painter of beauty, whether that is landscape, still life, animals or cityscapes. I am available for commissions and I love working with clients. I work diligently to capture what the client wants and it is my pleasure to have others see something special in what I create. Life has such beauty and I hope that I capture some of that beauty that brings joy to others.
