Margot Comer

A painter in oils, I am disciplined in impressionist use of color and principles of composition. My paintings are owned by clients around the US, particularly in Northern California. Samples of my work can be seen at

I started my graphics career in 1962 as an illustrator for Boston Yellow Pages and finished as the owner of Studio 5 Graphics Design and Advertising in Redding CA. In 1992, After 30 years in graphics, I began my second career in Fine Art and as an instructor in oil painting.

Traveling and painting in the Southwest, my husband and I settled in Palm Springs and later in Roseville CA in 2000 where we opened and operated Studio 5 Gallery. We hosted monthly one-person shows for local artists. I taught ongoing weekly classes at Studio 5, Sun City Roseville, and the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation. I introduced oil painting to beginners in 4 annual 2-day workshops for Sierra College Community Education for 10 years.

Before moving to Sparks in April 2021, I held memberships in the Art League of Lincoln, Sacramento Fine Arts, Arts Council of Placer County, Blue Line Gallery in Roseville, and Painters Club of Del Webb Lincoln Hills. Over my 20 years in the painters club I served on the board 4 years as secretary, and 4 years as Programs Chair for recruiting presenters at our monthly meetings. All the mentioned venues hosted several annual juried shows in which I participated.

At you will see samples of figures, still life compositions, landscapes, locations painted in Plein Air, and some pet portraits from more than 100 commissions.
