Watercolor
Jean Hare has lived most her life in Northern Nevada, which has given her a love for the beautiful scenery the Sierras and the desert have to offer. Jean first realized her interest in art through art classes in high school. The classes served to pique her interest in the various art media. It wasn’t until many years later after her children had grown, and her work eased, that she was able to pursue the medium that she has come to enjoy the most— watercolor. Pursuing this interest, she garnered unique techniques and different applications from various local instructors as well through watercolor workshops and clinics.
A lover of the outdoors and an avid hiker, Jean has found inspiration for her work in God’s creation. Her art is a reflection of her love of God’s handiwork. Her passion for nature and painting shines in her work. “My ability to create art comes as an unexpected gift from God. As I paint, I see and appreciate the beauty and wonder of God’s creation. I love to paint.” Currently Jean’s work can be seen at Artist Co-Operative of Reno Gallery.
She also exhibits as a member of the Sierra Watercolor Society with shows at Washoe Medical Center, Washoe Therapy Center, Washoe County Library, the Great Reno Balloon Races, and the Riverside Gallery, in addition to others. She has also shown her work in VSA Arts of Nevada and the former Amaranth Gallery in Reno. Her work has also been exhibited at Fall Fine Arts, Arts in Bloom, Art and Wine Festival and various other shows in Reno and the surrounding community. Jean is a member of the Sierra Watercolor Society.
