Gary D. Sanchez started drawing and painting as a child in primary school when his father was teaching art in SLC Utah. He displayed his art in solo exhibitions throughout junior high and high school winning various art competitions. He went to McAteer School of the Arts in SF in high school focusing his studies in Art and painting.


After high school he worked as an apprentice to a well-known sculptor in Rocklin California where he learned the art of sculpting glass displaying his personal works in galleries worldwide including glass/stone sculptures and paintings. He attended the College of Eastern Utah focusing his studies in Art including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpting, graphic design and writing. While attending college He was employed by CEU as a math and graphic design tutor. He currently works as a gaming artist at IGT in Reno NV for over 23 years. At IGT he has designed over 150 slots, poker,
bingo and video games including concept work and sketches, characters, logos, symbols, 2-D and 3-D animations, overhead sign packages, reel strips, game play and more. Some of his games have won game of the year at IGT and gaming conferences. He has 17 patents pertaining to gaming.


While at IGT he has had the privilege to work alongside many talented artists.
He also enjoys painting large scale murals. He has designed and painted many murals over the years in various cities and for clients in their homes and offices. In Reno NV he has designed murals and led teams of volunteers to finalize the murals including the Bridge Church and Huffaker Elementary school. He had the privilege to paint large scale paintings on stage at church while the pastor taught his lesson in the 45-minute timeframe. He is a freelance illustrator who has designed and illustrated over 70 children’s books and over 100 book covers. He has donated most of his royalties to organizations chosen by the authors he works with and has donated many paintings to charities.


He loves to spend his free time drawing in his deckled paper sketchbooks with inks and brushes. He also enjoys painting in his art studio and weather permitting plein air painting. He also enjoys hiking, rock hounding, ghost town adventures, treasure hunting, photography, playing musical instruments, board games and going to the movies. Above all else he loves his wife Jennifer, whom he has been with for 30 years and his three beautiful daughters Kiana, Sierra, and Jade.
