Carol joined Latimer Art Club in 2018. “The Club’s main attraction for me was how inspiring it is to learn from other artists,” she said. “Observing their accomplishments pushes my own creative direction.”
Carol grew up in Chicago, Illinois and is a U.S. Navy veteran. She attributes her interests in photography and painting to her travels with appreciation for landscapes, city lights and patriotic themes. She loves the Nevada outdoors (especially winter) and has raised horses and many dogs and cats.
In recent years Carol pursued art courses at Truckee Meadows Community College in drawing, watercolor and acrylics. She also enjoys oil pastel and ink painting. “LAC provides venues to exhibit my art,” she said. “New challenges are announced at every meeting.”
Since joining LAC Carol has honed her interest in miniature paintings. “I encourage new artists and prospective members to enter the annual LAC miniatures exhibit in October. It’s a skillful, disciplined technique open to every medium.” Last year LAC’s Tiny Treasures drew 172 miniatures. Many visitors purchased paintings during the month-long show.
Carol participates with LAC colleagues in plein air trips for monthly outdoor painting adventures. “We all paint different scenes and value fellow artists’ supportive critiques. Join us and capture Nevada’s beauty!”
