Alyssa Cumpton lives and works in Elko, Nevada. Her work is generally inspired by nature and animals, much of her art directly inspired by backpacking and camping across the west. She has a particular affinity for wild horses and her style is a mix of contemporary and traditional, utilizing bright colors and stylized elements. In addition to small scale painting and drawing, she also installs large murals, which can be seen in several states. She also participates in sidewalk chalk festivals across the country. Recent accomplishments include a residency with Black Rock High Rock Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area and participation in Chalktoberfest in Marietta, Georgia. She holds a BFA in Drawing and Painting and a BA in Criminal Justice both from Boise State University and is the owner of Black Cat Chalk Art and Murals, LLC.
