Our 2020 PAINT-OUTS are now scheduled APRIL through October, with an optional November PAINT! We can also add a second monthly PAINT if there’s interest. These Paint Outs are coordinated by our co-chairs Carol Grigus and Marjee Smith. If you have any questions feel free to contact them directly.
We gather at locations in Reno and the Sierras to enjoy the camaraderie of other artists as well as capture Nature’s beauty. All mediums are welcome! Please join us for some fun PAINT-OUTS!
Plan to meet on the 2nd WEDNESDAY of the month: APRIL through October. From 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Please bring lunch for an optional after PAINT & SHARE. Most locations have restrooms. Bring a painting partner if you are concerned about being alone. Carpooling is encouraged especially for out of Reno locations.
Severe weather or emergency alerts could cancel any planned paint-outs so it’s important to check the website or contact Carol or Marjee for updates.
If you have suggestions of where we should paint next, fill out the form below.
CANCELED-APRIL 8th the MAY ARBORETUM. Reno. Meet in the arboretum parking lot at 9:30 am. Carol or Marjee will be there to greet you and give locations for interesting PAINTS. The Latimer’s ARTOWN show AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL is just a few months away so painting at the arboretum will give us potential subjects to enter into that show at the MAY MUSEUM!
CANCELED-MAY 13th SAND HARBOR State Park. Most of you know this is a lovely beach on the east side of Lake Tahoe, but too crowded in the summer!! May is the last month for quiet PAINTS along its shores. Plan to meet @ Divers Cove and explore from there. There is a park fee unless you have a pass.
JUNE 10th VIRGINIA CITY. Meet at the Cemetery parking lot…yes, this sounds odd, but it has the best views of VC. We can move from there depending on our interests.
JUNE 26th Nevada Museum of Art Bonus Paint-Out. Paint Reno from another vantage point, the rooftop of the NMA!
JULY 8th RIVER FORK RANCH In Genoa. The River Fork is a Nature Conservancy site with stunning views of Job’s peak, the Carson Valley, and nearby ranches. About 45 minutes from Reno, carpooling is encouraged. Directions will follow via email once you RSVP.
AUGUST 12th TAHOE MEADOWS. Meet at the restrooms and be prepared to be amazed by wildflowers, whitebark pine, and other high mountain delights. Bring bug spray for this one!
SEPTEMBER 9th Crystal Peak Park In Verdi. A longtime favorite among painters, the park has beautiful views of the Truckee River and the surrounding area.
OCTOBER 14th THOMAS CREEK. On Timberline Road on Mt. Rose highway, Thomas Creek offers incredible views of GOLD FALL ASPEN. Meet at river left over the tiny Thomas creek bridge.
Happy PAINTING and happy trails to all.
